Waste Transfer Station

The closure and remediation of the old dump site and the installation of water monitoring wells has been a great project for the community.

Good Hope Lake previously had a landfill where they would bury and burn garbage. The dump was then closed and the site has been completely remediated and reclaimed. The new Transfer Station separates garbage and recycling and then transfers it to the Watson lake landfill. Jade city, Boya Lake and some local mines are all serviced by this Waste Transfer Station.

Employment for members was generated through the cleanup efforts to remove all of the scattered garbage from the site, and the construction of the new Waste Transfer Station also created significant employment. There are now opportunities for members to maintain long term meaningful employment at the Waste Transfer Station in the form of maintenance jobs. There are 2 full time maintenance jobs at this facility available to members.
